The EMRAF High Quality Environment Group

Bridge repairs in the Derbyshire Dales The High Quality Environment Subgroup is the newest of the EMRAF subgroups and was developed at the beginning of 2010 to be in line with the priorities of the East Midlands Rural Framework. A healthy natural environment is fundamental to current and future economic prosperity.

It is integral to our health, wellbeing and happiness. It underpins everything humankind collectively consumes. It provides raw material for the production process, for example, timber, fuels, water and critically, food. It shapes the places in which we live and work.

The subgroup is chaired by Heather Stokes from Nottinghamshire County Council and quarterly meetings take place throughout the year which are held at various venues throughout the region.

Membership is drawn from a wide range of sectors including Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, emda, the Environment Agency, BASC, the Woodland Trust, Natural England, Rural Community Councils and County and District Councils.
