The EMRAF Sustainable & Inclusive Communities Group

A rural village scene

Formed in 2004, the EMRAF Rural Housing Practitioners Subgroup has since played a significant role in influencing the delivery of affordable rural housing providing evidence to support this objective within the region. To keep in line with the priorities of the Rural Action Plan, this subgroup has recently evolved into the Sustainable & Inclusive Communities Incorporating Housing Subgroup. The aim of this group is to provide a rural focus for sustainable and inclusive communities and rural housing issues and to identify, share and promote good practice and to provide strategic representation on relevant regional groups. The Subgroup currently provides input into the Regional Housing Group to promote the adequate provision of affordable housing in rural villages and market towns within the East Midlands.

The Subgroup is Chaired by Craig Felts of Midlands Rural Housing and the membership is drawn from a wide range of sectors, who share a common interest including Local Authorities, Midlands Rural Housing, Rural Community Councils, The Housing Corporation, CPRE, East Midlands Development Agency and Longhurst Group.

Subgroup meetings take place quarterly throughout the year and are held at The East Midlands Development Agency offices in Nottingham.
